- C.L.A.W.S. Cats Lives Are Worth Saving
< Back C.L.A.W.S. Cats Lives Are Worth Saving Thank You to Angelica Acevedo and Her Heart for Stray Cats! Angelica Acevedo has created a special group with an important mission called C.L.A.W.S., Cats Lives Are Worth Saving, which traps, nueters, and releases stray cats back where they were found in Club Villa. Palmas Animal Welfare teamed up with Angelica as she powerfully requested that we take action and become the first HOA in Palmas to contribute money monthly and help control the stray cat population. After she presented the information at our annual owner's meeting, the owners enthusiastically demonstrated their support. Her plan was then brought before the Club Villa Board of Directors to be voted on at their next meeting, and they approved to add $99 per month to the annual budget! With this money, one stray cat per month can be vaccinated and nuetered. Angelica, with help from an adult traps the stray cat, takes it to the Condelero Veterinary office in Humacao, and then releases the cat when the medical procedures are complete, back into our neighborhood. We are all very proud of Angelica for her committment to this cause and her compassion for stray cats. I Previous Next

- Original Vision Of Palmas | Club Villa Home Owners' Association | Palmas Del Mar
Welcome to the Club Villa Homeowners' Association The Original Vision of Palmas del Mar History of Club Villa Here you can see our ClubVilla Neighborhood with the "Palmas Inn" sitting on top of the hill with the circular drive. Club Villa units were available to rent as well as the Palmas Inn rooms. The initial vision for Palmas Del Mar came from an American real estate developer, Charles Fraser, who developed Hilton Head Island in SC, Amelia Island Plantation in FL, Kiawah Island Resort in SC, and he also consulted for Walt Disney's new town of Celebration, FL. The concept for Palmas was a destination resort and secondary residential community. Esteban Padilla, architect, of Palmas Del Mar is featured in a 1973 Sports Illustrated Magazine edition where a swimsuit model is photographed on our beach. Here is an exert from the article, Speaking is Esteban Padilla, "We do not think of this as a 'development,' " he went on. "We are trying to get away from words like 'development' and into words like 'experiences.' A sequence of experiences. The secret with the automobile is to control the traffic outside, so that pedestrians can mingle unimpeded inside." He found a place on the map with his index finger, a distant parking area that he said would hold 1,200 cars. "Here," he said, pointing to Cala de Palmas, the harbor village. "No cars allowed. Here [the villa area around the inn- Club Villa!] . No cars. For these you will have to walk or, to travel around, an electric cart will be available. Or a bicycle." He looked back at his own stricken vehicle. "The automobile, of course, is the villain. I wish that we could leave all the roads natural, but this is a large area and there has to be accesses and movement and, as you can see, the weather can be rough on dirt roads. We will have to spread some tarmac around. But we are committed to the terrain. A minimum of earth movement. A slope remains a slope. Roads wind. Trees stay." PALMAS INN MASTER PLAN Young & de la Sota Architects (YSA) developed the master plan concept for the expansion of this 23 room boutique hotel. Following the Palmas del Mar Mediterranean vernacular, the casitas and two-story bungalows will increase the property to 143 rooms. Whether atop a small bluff overlooking a Caribbean beach, clustered around the terrace/beach swimming pool, or grouped around courtyards, the new rooms have generous seating areas for in-room five-star dining.
